Amusingly, some materially oriented critics see all of Astrology as hocus-pocus, thinking that all experience comes from chemicals in the brain, or that only what you see is what you get (no Inner Planes).  Others imagine that some celestial body tens of thousands of miles or light years away can’t affect us, not knowing that Jupiter, e.g., has more gravitational impact on us than a person 3 feet away!  These people don’t have any real experience with Astrology, and/or they are rather young on the spiritual path.  I don’t pay any attention.

A major approach is Medical.  Some people see and use Astrology only for health and remedies.  Tomes written on the subject.  ‘Course you always have to deal with the ADA and AMA games and stupidities, but the capacity to work with a good healer is huge.  One beauty is of course timing-seeing when the illness or issue started, peaks, and may pass!  Healers and healing are strongly shown in charts.

Many Astrologers and hopeful clients come to Astrology as a tool for finding a Vocation, or maybe a direction in life-often called in the East your Dharma (your path to Enlightenment).  Where should you put your next footstep?  And why should you choose that one? Astrology is famous for help of this kind.  With Midheaven for career, 2^nd House for income, 6^th House for work and service, and Asteroids like Industria (yes), we’re well endowed with support and insight.

Probably I’m the only one who thinks of this as an approach or what Astrology is about:  Actually growing from a Spiritual tack, Astrology is the identification and exposing of the Ego so that Spiritual steps may be taken to puncture it, or build it up for the task of transmutation to higher Chakra energies.  I like this one, but it’s hard.  No one wants to hear that her or his fond egoistic styles or pursuits or blamings are strictly bogus constructs the Ego uses to self-inflate.  Sigh.

Then there’s the viewpoint (usually New Age) that Astrology is outdated, doesn’t keep up with some Channels or visionary experiences.  To me, that’s like saying gravity is outdated.  Try jumping of a bridge.  The fact is that since we’re constituted of the same energies as the Planets and Stars, all our “updates” are included in the total energies.

An old view of Astrology is that those Astrologers who don’t use the “precession of the Equinoxes” are not in reality.  These people conform to the scientific fact of the Earth’s wobble and place the Sun nearly 30 degrees behind the tropical Astrologers.  This would sound persuasive-if you did NOT know how Astrology works.  Astrology is more a mapping of human consciousness than it is of the spatial heavens.  The Greeks took the wildly careen constellations and built a nice tidy Zodiac where a Sign (only corresponding to the constellation) was boxed up neatly in 30-degrees.  thus we’re into what Astrology really is . . . symbolic!  We find the accurate progressed Moon moving a symbolic year for each actual day in the ephemeris (the astronomical listing of daily movements of celestial bodies).  Shouldn’t show or mean a thing.  But it does!  and it has for at least 5,000 years, quite accurately.  BTW, that’s why I’m not a “Cusp” Astrologer.  If your birth-time is correct, your Sun is either in one Sign or the following one.

Mustn’t forget Mundane Astrology. Tons of Astrologers see Astrology’s sole purpose that of  dealing with the effects of the energies upon the world in general-politics, countries, rise and fall of Presidents, war, and the like.  Don’t come to me for that.  I just found out Oregon’s US Senator in my state of Oregon was defeated.  I don’t even have TV.  Yet it’s a good pursuit, one that Astrology was only used for back in the days of Babylonia.

I could go on like this for hours . . . but we still wouldn’t see the Big Picture of what Astrology is; we’d only see through a keyhole, through a glass darkly-because Astrology is like all the bodies of space, their gravitations, and electromagnetic influences.  Shucks, we don’t even know what matter is, or fire, or the 4 Forces are.  That’s Astrology’s job-to offer some links to the Beyond and to ourselves-the Macrocosm and the microcosm, which is you and I at this point of our realizations.  Does anybody know what Astrology is and does for you?  Not really.  It’s too big.  I’ve been a professional studying it for 33 years, and it grows bigger to my mind every day; I doubt I’ll ever catch up.

Does anybody know what Astrology is and does for you?  I don’t think so.

Some get that it changes your life. Just this week when I had another Taurus in my face about another wrangle, I went to my chart to address this energy force in my life.  Voila!  Taurus is the 12^th House of my volatile Gemini Moon which gets emotionally charged in my communication.  The 12^th H energies for me here raise up hidden unconscious trouble in myself about not letting go (Taurus) of challenging, confrontive ideas (Taurus & Gemini Moon blended).  I instantly got to take responsibility for the Taurean patterns in a concrete was.  This showed me that the problem wasn’t the slow-on-the-uptake Taurean confrontations, but my denial of my Taurean response to argument.  Big stuff for my Ego to get.  Life changing!

Some people (who imagine they know what Astrology is) get Astrology’s ability to follow the actualization/fulfillment of the necessary energies in your life. Way important!  And it does this with timing!  Everyone knows that only Astrology can mark off when events occur past, present, future within a range or even to the day.

Others get Astrology’s power to reveal how the energies of two people interact, showing what the nature of the relationship will be as it unfolds.  Quite significant to know when wanting to improve or fix the dynamics-to learn how to heal the emotional and psychological exchanges.

I’m excited about another viewpoint of Astrology–the spiritual offerings which range from profiling what your Spiritual profile could look like with your attention, to where you might place that Spiritual attention and intention, to how you might actualize your spiritual energies in your life.  This also includes the higher octaves, e.g., the energies of Moon’s emotion upleveled to Venus’s feelings and mundane love, then upleveled to Asteroids like Ceres nurture, then to Neptune’s spiritual Love.

A very few people think that the new Astrology is about the colossal new energies of some of the 15,000 Asteroids that have been recently discovered and named.  The specific definitions of events, profiles, and answers to life’s questions is profound when the Asteroids are placed on the chart.  What a wealth of info and direction!

A wise amount of people for over 5,000 years have approached Astrology for guidance in any area of their lives, using it like an oracle or psychic.  Smart move, because the maps are so clear and helpful.  You can even keep asking the same question and go more deeply into your Unconscious for the richer answer!  I in fact use tools like Astrology dice and Astro-cards to indicate answers for most sorts of well phrase questions.  This branch of Astrology is called Horary, and some people only use it for the purpose of getting such information.

A great many Western persons think Astrology is to consult for their profiles.  “Oh, I know my signs,” these people say; “I’ve had my chart done.”  Not really.  These persons think  Astrology is a pulling of a tooth that now all over.  “Been there.  Done that.”  This was a good start, but if you are serious about guiding yourself  physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually, you need to keep up your pursuit with a good Astrologer.  Or learn some important basics to also watch your own potential and development.

Since the impact of Dane Rudhyar and Liz Greene, most Astrologers attempt to approach Astrology psychologically, rather than predicting dire or great events in your future.  Astrology’s ability to define a person’s profile lends it well to recognizing emotions and thoughts on behavior. Liz Greene specified this to the other phenomenal influence on the skill, the great psychologist Carl Jung, who applied Depth Psychology and brought in the Archetype concept to the planetary energies.  Some practitioners don’t even knoew there are other ways to view the Astrological model.

Quite different from Jungian Astrology is Evolutionary Astrology generated by Jeffrey Wolf Green which emphasizes Pluto, the Nodes, Soul purpose, and Sex to determine how you’re moving on your Spiritual Path. One sticky part of this is ascertaining what one of the three stages you are in on your Spiritual trek, as judged by the Astrologer.  Hmmm, I keep that to myself, thank you very much.  Quite a can of worms.  However, many Evolutionary Astrologers don’t much countenance the other approaches which are viewed as trivial.

I’ll continue this in Part 2 in the next Blog, for you can see that the approaches to Astrology and what Astrology really is appear to be huge–far beyond most persons’ estimate.  Some topics will be Vocation and Medical.

Big for me is that I’ve bought land in the terrific 3D Virtual World called Second Life where I’m teaching 3 Astrology classes online!

This experience is a Total Trip totally! Just about anything you choose to do in your 1st life (1L) you can do in 2L, but then add in a zillion things extra!  It’s like being on an Inner Plane where you can manifest mammoth trees, architecturally magnificent buildings and landscaping, spectacular clothing while having a body and face that range from a replica of yours to raving beauties, sages, or animals!

While you can have great dance experiences as your character (or Avatar) goes to clubs to dance the most amazing moves (wish I could do them!), you might more like the constant lectures, and classes available on great topics like Reiki, A Course in Miracles, Eckhart Tolle, building, marriage, poetry, Astrology, Hinduism, Christianity, etc.  (There are Christian churches, with ministers who help you.  Healers of all sorts.  In fact look up the CBS UTube re Second Life,  on how an agoraphobic woman was healed by utilizing 2L.)

Who God is (Jesus, Nanak, Allah, Jehovah, Sat Naam) is not so important as What is your relationship to this Source?  The metaphors of Son, Daughter, Child work, and the important part is experiencing contact in some way.

The biggest and best access to the Divine may be direct contact inside in Meditation, but we humans also experience visions, dreams, heightened feelings, love interchanges, feelings from service, etc.

When we’re out of synch with ourselves, we feel malaise or anger or many sorts of negative emotions.  We feel separate from our Source, but we probably won’t  know that we’re separated at all.  We instead may feel apart, ostracized, lonely with people-mate, children, fellow workers.

The fact generally is a person doesn’t have touch with her/his unconscious (a facet of God, or the Soul, or even repressed mind experiences).  That’s where Astrology comes in.

What I like most about Astrology is that I’m in no way endangering myself or my client by using supernatural powers.  What I use is quite harmlessly physical: Sun, Moon, planets, Asteroids, Stars, cards, etc.  There’s a tangibility here, and I’ve come to see Astrology as the aid our Source has given us to get through our bedarkened lives-as Paul said, we but see through a glass darkly.

The fantastic 3D virtual world program, called 2^nd Life, should really be called 3^rd life because it parallels our situation where our Soul runs our personality on Earth, and many souls get identified with the ego, thus getting hung-up on this plane of illusion.

Astrology’s job is to help disentangle the personality from its beliefs about this world-like “I can’t be happy because he doesn’t love me,” or “There’s no God because I’ve never seen Him or Her.” and similar mind-creations.  Astrology points to your blockages and strengths, helps to ascertain your life’s purpose, shows where you fulfill your written potential.

Frankly I don’t think a person can navigate life intelligently without Astrology.  One is just walking around blindfolded.

So there’s a little Khierian cosmology to show where I’m coming from when were doing our Dialogues together, or in these Blogs.  Got any thoughts on these ideas?

One view of Astrology and Tarot I offer is simultaneity of events and symbols that rise spontaneously.  The accomplished Astrologist or Taroist is sensitive to these symbols like a Dowser to water.  The other principle here is that of the holographic universe in which the Whole is contained in the part.  These are both foundational characteristics of Quantum Physics.  Check out What the Bleep Do We Know (film and/or book).

Monte Farber’s Karma Cards from 1988 present you a demonstration of simultaneity, coincidence in its deep sense, and holograms containing the bigger picture.  An article at http://www.wicce.com/karmacards.html tells you how to use them.  Using them is so simple that you know how immediately, and the best part is you don’t need to know Astrology first.

My concern in this Blog is about Quantum simultaneity, not the cards themselves, but I do want to emphasize their marvelous ability to plumb your psyche.  24 cards divided into Planets, Signs, and Houses, the cards as you pick one from each category or pile give a particular position like Sun in Libra in the 5th House (pictured above).  This gives a similar opportunity like Astrology dice:

These dice when rolled regarding a subject give an Astrological position again like Neptune in 12th House Aries shown in my photo.  However, a knowledge of what the symbols mean requires an Astrology Counselor.  So don’t by them (Amazon for $7) if you don’t plan to study.

As I was saying above, the cards present a method of tuning into your psyche, the world, and the universe, by giving suggestive interps; and the interpretations are for the Physical, Mental, and Spiritual levels but also gear to whether the topic is a Question (red end of cards) or an Outcome (blue end of cards).

Let’s demonstrate:  My Question is What is the Outcome on my spiritual growth of writing this article? From the three piles I drew North Node in 10th House Pisces.  One Astrological interp I’d give for this position/answer is I’m on the path beneficial to me (North Node) in a spiritual way or for the greater good (Pisces) in my career (10th House).  This last part being the career House is significant because the Question has to do with my writing an article re Astrology, which is my life’s work, and of course the Pisces sign is the most appropriate for a positive answer (for which I’m grateful!).

Spiritually speaking (S row on blue end of North Node), the cards says, “There will be” (N Node deals with what’s fulfilling).  Added to it is the S of the blue end of the Pisces card, “Spirituality to ultimately experience”…”your destiny” (10th House card).

So my apprehension or curiosity is laid to rest as the Physical and Mental rows continue to speak of success/benefit of this “psychic” knowledge in where I’m going.  Phew!  I thought I might be doing all this work for nothing!

What we’ve seen in a little show of what’s down the rabbit hole of the Unconscious oneness that makes my drawing a card, or looking at a Chart’s symbols answer Questions or give Outcomes.  Very psychological actually.  “It’s all in the mind.”  [Not fully, because the mind is outside Spirit, but that's another Blog....]

Dane Rudhyar changed Everything.  He was the Father of modern Astrology, and though he sounded an alarm against trivial Astrology practice, and taught us Character is Destiny, this important understanding went back at least to the Greek Heraclitus who said, Character is Fate.

Other Astrologers (like Alan Leo and Marc Edmund Jones) were aware that as the character is formed, a person’s path unfolds before him, but Rudhyar in 1935 in his book, The Astrology of Personality, brought this to public attention,  and changed forever how persons like you and me approach this gift from God.  Previously practitioners used Astrology to approach people as types and satisfied the ego’s desire to know the future (Fortune-telling).  Rudhyar taught us to work with the whole psyche to achieve holistic understanding of the great questions of life.

Ego-driven personality asks, “Will I meet a lover this year?” Soul-driven Character asks, “How will I grow spiritually if I meet another person?  I’ve seen the patterns of my past experiences.” Ego focuses on gratification of pleasures and pursuits.  Character is seen in growth as in fulfilling core values and Maslovian needs.  Maslow spoke of the Hierarchy of Needs that lead to the fulfillment of the whole person, not just the personality.

Soul-inspired Character is holistic.  Ego-driven personality is fragmented, latching on to passing desires.

Our need to discover selfhood of Selfhood and reconnect to our Source is Character, and an appropriate Astrology helps us in the “soulution” of our personal and interpersonal issues, mostly in assistance of the actualization our birth-potential (symbolized in the map or Astrological chart).

What makes up Character includes the Meta-Needs (as Maslow called them) of which aesthetic needs and self-transcendence are primary.  If these higher needs have no outlet or actualization, then the difficulties of life are likely to increase-and worse, the person has little comprehension or ways to cope with the difficulties that occur.

Character is Destiny means that the dominant parts of your psyche determine what arrives at your doorstep.  Rudhyar said, “Events don’t happen to people.  People happen to events.”  He meant that the mind is over matter in such a way that matter and events conform to the person’s deep beliefs, values, and attitudes.  The ego wants gratification.  The Soul wants growth.  The events respond to deeper levels of the psyche and maybe not to the superficial levels of personality at all.

So if you want to change your events and your future, you must emphasize attention to higher needs, to richer Character, and feed the personality a good deal less.

It’s important to know that my approach to Astrology is through Dialogue.  We sleuth together to arrive at the right answer, direction, solution, Soulution.

Your future is determined by your Past and most importantly your Present.  The Past is your Natal chart, and how it progressed (and the choices you made) during the subsequent years.  It’s dynamic.  Ideally you can create your direction you want, but most people don’t.  They don’t know they can, and don’t know how to.

Your Sun (Asker of this Q: Beth, we’ll say) is conjunct the Asteroids, Demeter and Phaethon.  If you readers are sharp with your Greek Mythology, you’ll know Demeter (Ceres) is a conservative Mother Nature who gets yanked by Pluto stealing her daughter.

Beth, your steady nature, perhaps maternally, is highly challenged by 1) your Gemini Sun, and 2)the influence on your Sun of Phaeton, the wild boy who drove the flying solar chariot too close to the Earth/Sun and had to be thunderbolted.

The point for you is your frustration in being tied down–the very opposite to the Demeter energy in yourself.  If you’re holding a steady fort, one you’ve built over years, then your other parts might be longing or screaming to do some very public, cause-oriented, dream-oriented activities (Chiron has moved into your 11th House, and Jupiter is at 29 degrees of 10th H Capricorn).

You probably wouldn’t want to throw over the traces (Cancer Moon and lunar Return in Cancer in the 4th H of family and stability), but you may not want to be raising the grandchildren either, though you find them lovable.

At this time I’d see you finding a supplement in your life that takes you into the public arena in perhaps volunteering, teaching children something not related to your current teaching in your field.

Actually your current work does most of the job, but the Gemini needs more, perhaps mental interaction, less Cancer feeling you express so well in your work!

Perhaps you’re used to seeing an Astrology chart with 10 Planets, a Node or two, and maybe a few other points.  Here’s a part of the chart I work with:

Effect on Venus, Moon, and Ascendant

Devastation of Lunar Return. Pluto-to-Asc transit. and Nessus-to-Venus transit

I made this image large so that you can read the details.  When we’re talking about love we would look to Venus (for a man’s chart); look to the Moon for his mother and approach to women; look to his Ascendant for impacts on himself, his personality.  And this male person we’ll call Jack hs them heavily accented.  Let’s see how.

Jack’s natal Venus is at 12 degrees (12*) Aquarius, and in the sky (called a transit) the Asteroid Nessus is also at 12*.  See this in the Detail, and then on the full chart above (at the lower left).

While Nessus (Ns) is an Asteroid (just discovered in 1993), it is also called a Centaur which are objects that have extremely erratic orbits that move oblong around the Sun so much that it goes closer to the Sun than Uranus but also farther out than Neptune.  Read up on Centaurs in Greek mythology , and you’ll learn about a part of yourself in disguise.

Nessus deceived Hercules’s wife, leading to the hero’s death; in this way we see the deception of feelings Jack experienced as his Lilly moved out.

Centaurs and Nessus often have to do with healing and transformation.  There’s a potential for Jack to grow from this pain, to change values, to select women who appreciate something perhaps that his soul is striving for.  This interpretation is reinforced by another asteroid also transiting his Venus, Terpsichore, which deals with the body.  Jack a strong person, has been assailed by a couple injuries that recently have limited his movement.  But it’s unlikely he will make the tie-in to his attitudes and choices to whom to give his affections.  That’s how Astrology and the detail of the Asteroids assist.

Nessus deals also with betrayal; Jack’s been betrayed by his loved one and by his body, and he’s betrayed himself possibly with his choice of values which belie his Pisces soul concerns.  He may’ve also betrayed his mother’s values he was raised on.  Note he has a Natal 12th House Moon.  What is not shown is he’s having a Lunar Return–his progressed Moon coming back to its origin.  Since the 12th House deals with the unconscious, particularly from childhood with the parental influences and engrams, it’s not unlikely that Jack’s is rehearsing some sort of betrayal associated with his mother (always symbolized as the Moon).  Perhaps it was the divided nature of their values and behaviors–a touchy subject to bring up because when humans doubt themselves, they usually bring someone into their lives to reject them.

Finally in this quick little review, Pluto is transiting Jack’s Ascendant, a tumultuous experience, although perhaps spread out over a year.  There might be a death of a person, but in this case it might be the death of a relationship, both of which are highly tranformative to the personality.  Ideally Jack will come out of this greatly and positively altered.

Sisyphus and Pandora also transiting the Ascendant says he’s done this many times in the past and opens a box of dangers to himself.  Pluto energy requires he overcome the issue this time.

Khier's Greenhouse Approaching Completion

After going Raw Foods I saw the need for gowing all my own food year-round, so I decided to build cold-frames and then a Green house.  All this has taken since June.

Astrologically my progressed Solar Return (Key Cycle) had the chart ruler Venus in Capricorn, and then the chasrt ruler Pluto in Capricorn–a big work Sign, and my Sun Sign.  Follow that?

Plus, Saturn has been in my 6th for all of this, dealing with health and work–just where it was for me from 1979-80 when I built a huge house, shop, and GREENHOUSE (Saturn then moving into Libra for the beauty & growth).

In your charts, one of you became a licensed Acupuncturist as Saturn completed Virgo this year!  Another one of you got your massage license; another opened a restaurant and flourished; and another graduated Rogue Community College & pursued SOU.
